It was hard not to be impressed with ROYAL PLAYWRIGHT’s debut performance at Salisbury last time out where he was very strong in the finish.
That performance suggested that he is very capable performer and the step up in grade in the Solario Stakes tomorrow should be one he can take in his stride.
It is however one of the better renewals of this race so he has his hands full but he impressed me visually with how he powered away late on with ears still pricked.
I think he will relish the Sandown hill tomorrow and although the favourite looked impressive at Newmarket I think the selection could outstay him.
It’s a decent card at Chester tomorrow and although I will have a dabble in some of the earlier races it isn’t until later that my stronger fancies run.
First up is MISTER SKETCH who would look a risky bet here based on his form figures but I think the drop to 6f in this grade might just see him put his best foot forward.
He has shown an ability to travel into his races this year but hasn’t had the opportunity to trouble the judges for one reason or another.
I am going to forgive him for a couple of runs this year as I think this race represents a big step down in class.
I can’t see past SPIRIT MIXER in the the finale on the Roodee now he too steps down in grade. He has been running in some good handicaps this season and has probably just found them a little hot given the current form he is in.
A confidence booster looks desperately in need and this race provides a perfect opportunity. His run at Ascot would give you plenty of confidence and if he can avoid trouble around this tricky course I think he is the one to beat.
