You never say quite what you wanted to say or say all you might have said, do you? Even master of mockery, Oscar Wilde, overhearing a gem of a quip, bleated: “I wish I’d said that.”
“You will Oscar, you will,” was the put down..
Leaving an interview (one of many) in which I’d failed to impress, the door closed behind me and I banged my head in frustration against the nearest wall. Where were the right words when I’d needed them?
As luck would have it my closest friend was up for the same Jockey Club handicapper’s job...
