We’ve got a busy week ahead with a good weekend of racing starting tomorrow as well as Glorious Goodwood kicking off on Tuesday next week. I could back 5 or 6 tomorrow but I will reign it back incase it all goes wrong and I’m beat before Goodwood starts.
One I will be backing is OUR TERMS in the opener at Ascot. Richard Hannon‘s 2 year old is very well bred and made an encouraging debut at Newmarket in a race which I think will work out well. Hannon’s two year olds always take a good step forward from their first outing which has to bode well today and with Ryan Moore booked tomorrow I think this lad is a strong bet if he comes out anywhere near his predicted odds.
I boarded the CARRYTHEONE train early on this season and although we narrowly missed the stop the last twice I find it hard to see past him in the 7f handicap at Ascot tomorrow. He finished like a train at Royal Ascot despite only getting a gap with half a furlong to go and it was a similar story last time at Newmarket when he came with a late rattle having been denied a run three or four times. With only 18 runners going to post here I hope he will be able to find a lot more space across this vast track and get out soon enough to make a challenge. Surely he is due a change of fortune?
Up at York I’ve restricted myself to one punt on ZOZIMUS in the 4.35. He too is playing for luck a lot of the time with his running style but he does show his best form at York and I therefore think he is worth chancing here. I believe he is in good form despite questionable form figures, but he just hasn’t been running at tracks which suit his running style. Back here at York I think he is a big player at what could be a juicy price.
