I’m making my first journey to Haydock tomorrow and it looks like I am getting treated to a decent card on what should be perfect ground. The softer side of good will please plenty of trainers and hopefully keep the majority of the fields at their current maximum.
My first selection runs in the 1.15 and I’m hoping he will be overlooked considering he is Stuart Crawford’s second string. PARK ANNONCIADE showed a good attitude by getting back up at Ayr last time over 2 miles and he and the runner up pulled nicely clear of the remainder. An unexposed type, he runs off that same mark here after Ben Bromley’s allowance negates his increase in the weights and the fact Stuart Crawford runs two also interests me so I’m hoping for a big run.
In the big handicap, there seems to be plenty of unexposed types attracting plenty of support and of those I quite like the claims of LORD SNOOTIE who surely would have finished close at Galway last time out had he not almost come down 2 out. A progressive type for Christian Williams he shapes like a horse who should be able to land a big pot like this before too long and his current mark of 123 looks more than workable. He will need to jump better obviously but I’m more than hopeful he has enough in hand.
Arguably my strongest bet tomorrow is FAMOUS BRIDGE in the finale. He too looks ahead of his current mark of 129 and trainer Nicky Richards has been complimentary about him in a recent stable tour. He travelled the best on his reappearance but found it happening all too fast over 2m 4f so the step up to 3m should bring about plenty of improvement. It doesn’t look the deepest of races so a progressive type like the selection might be the way to go.
Haydock 1.15 – Park Annonciade
Haydock 2.20 – Lord Snootie
Haydock 3.35 – Famous Bridge
