The 2.40 at York looks a typical York sprint and there are a number of contenders. I think ZARZYNI is over priced at 20/1 and his run at Musselburgh will have put him spot on for this. He came to hand early last season and he looked in good spirits despite only coming 5th last time. He dwelt at the start and made good late gains so if he can break with them tomorrow I think he is well handicapped enough to go close.
It will probably be a day of taking notes at Haydock but if you forced my hand I’d rather chance a few at a price. In the Sandy Lane I think THE RIDLER could trouble the judge at a big price. Richard Fahey knows what he’s doing with a young sprinter and he wouldn’t be running him here if he didn’t feel he could do himself justice. He is a proper bull of a horse and he was never going to be suited over 7f last time. Having said that he is strong at the finish but that finishing kick could be more deadly over 6f and he could upset a few here.
The Temple Stakes is a minefield on the face of it and I certainly wouldn’t be trusting those 3 year old fillies down the bottom. They’re going to be going lickety split here and LIVE IN THE DREAM is undoubtedly going to be forcing that pace. We have seen so often at Haydock that it often pays to be on the front end on quick ground as they just keep rolling and that could really suit this lad. His run last time was no fluke and I expect him to be hard to peg back.
If he does go too fast then I expect HAPPY ROMANCE to be in with a shout of picking up the pieces. She loves to come off a fast pace it is just whether or not she can keep tabs on them early. If she’s in touch with a furlong to go, she will come home strong.
