Providing Cheltenham beats the frost, which it should do, it looks to be an enthralling day for race goers tomorrow. A 9 race card with plenty of runners is just what the doctored ordered after a couple of weeks in the doldrums.
The opener can go the way of SCRIPTWRITER who looks a good bet at 4/1 at the moment. Milton Harris has made no secret of the regard he holds this horse in and I don’t think we have seen the best of him yet. He’s won his fair share this year already but I think he’s been doing it a shade cosy and has more in the locker.
I’m having two punts in the 12.10 and first up is PANIC ATTACK who looks very well weighted on her best form. If she can repeat her performance at Huntingdon then she should be in the mix here at 16/1. DATSALRIGHTGINO let me down last time but he’s been crying out for this step up in trip for a while. The ground is a slight worry but I’m willing to take a chance at double figure odds.
It would be a very emotional victory if BLENKINSOP can get his head in front in the Ballymore trial. Owner and breeder Tim Nixon unfortunately passed away this week but leaves a great legacy and his grandson/retained rider Hugh Nugent will be trying to end what is obviously a sad week with a very apt winner. The form book speaks in his favour and like Scriptwriter, I don’t think we’ve seen the best of him yet.
I’m hoping MIGHT I can end my day in good style as I am quite confident about his chance. A mark of 142 is certainly within his remit but a bad run last time would just leave a question mark hanging over his head. If he recaptures his novice form then he wins this hard held but that run last time just stops me from going all in. Cheltenham 11.40 – Scriptwriter
Cheltenham 12.10 – Panic Attack / Datsalrightgino
Cheltenham 3.35 – Blenkinsop
Cheltenham 4.10 – Might I
