For what should be a quiet Wednesday in mid June I have somehow developed three fancies up and down the country. My best bet is STRAWMAN at Carlisle who looks sure to improve for the step up in trip. He got on top at Redcar last time very late on and in the end won a shade cosy in a race which couldn’t have worked out better. If he returns in the same form here he should take all the beating despite a 3lb rise and the burden of top weight.
Down at Salisbury I think TOP SECRET is overpriced having run well in stronger races. His run last time out at Epsom is best to ignore as he never got into it and was given an easy time of it when his chance had gone. He is better judged on his run prior to that at Newbury and his form last season. He should bounce back to form here.
At Worcester I expect ELIOS D’OR to take all the beating after romping to victory at Ludlow last time out. He showed good form at Worcester last year and looks set to improve as the summer goes on. Robert Walford has a good record with similar types and I think that record should be enhanced today.
Carlisle 3.25 – Strawman
Salisbury 3.15 – Top Secret
Worcester 1.35 – Elios D’or
