Bens Day 2 Ascot Tips

.30 – This looks like one of the best renewals of this race for quite some time and I expect the winner to be top class. There has been plenty of chat about ‘s Dramatised and it was hard not to be impressed by her at but she did look incredibly green that day and hung badly late on. I’d be concerned about her experience at such skinny prices. I’m keen to back MARIA BRANWELL each way as she impressed me with her win at when accounting for Irish raider Crispy Cat. The two pulled clear but I was impressed with how the winner went through the gears that day and this stuff 5f should really suit her. 3.05 – This isn’t as hot as the first race and I don’t think it will take much winning. The favourite ELDAR ELDAROV has looked good in two starts to date and his form has worked out well so far. If there is an unexposed star in there I think it could be him. At 3/1 he looks a solid favourite and I’m keen to follow.
.40 – BAY BRIDGE is one of my bankers of the week and I will be disappointed if he can’t win this. I don’t think it is that deep a race, clearly, and the only worry I have is that if it turns into a tactical race and we’re left in a bad position turning in. I hope is at his best and if he is I’m sure we’ve got the winner as his Sandown reappearance was mightily impressive.
.20 – Again, this isn’t a vintage renewal of this race and there are probably only two or three that can win it. I’m keen to be on the side of SAFFRON BEACH who developed into a proper horse last year. She performed admirably in in early Spring and I’m sure she will be ready for this assignment. She has to give a Group 1 penalty away but she maybe good enough to do it.
.00 – A minefield of a race if truth be told but I find it hard to look past the favourite LEGEND OF DUBAI who could be potentially thrown in. He’s bred out of the blue and has endured a stop start career so far but looks to be back to full health now and has clearly been saved for this race. There is probably no doubting he is a Group horse in a handicap but it’s just whether he can show that today. If he gets the breaks I think he will take some beating.
.35 – The favourite could be a good thing here but is too short for me given the big field. I’d rather take a chance on BOLT ACTION who could round off a good day for Roger Varian. This breeze up buy looked all class when winning on debut at and he should step forward on that. There are some similar types in there but he strikes you as the type who could be a lot better than listed class. At 9/1 I’m willing to take the chance.
.10 – The top weight Angel Power looks a class act here but she has the weight to prove it so I’m keen to look elsewhere. FFION was second in this race last year but returned this year in fine form with a victory at . She has threatened to be a bit better than her current mark on more than one occasion and I hope she can prove that today as she looks a sound each way bet at 16/1 with man of the moment Richard Kingscote booked to ride.
