It’s a strong day of action for a Tuesday in the middle of January with Exeter and Doncaster both hosting interesting cards.
The heavy ground at Exeter will certainly sort them out so I’d try and look for horses you know will handle the conditions.
ILLEGAL MODEL should do just that as he bids to complete his first race over fences.
After an unfortunate unseat last time out, Charlie Longsdon will be keen to get him around in one piece here as he has always held this horse in high regard and he will be hoping he realises his true potential over fences in this softer ground.
A lightly raced type he has always looked the type to excel when sent over a fence and I expect him to make light of his mark sooner rather than later.
I really like the chances of DANCING WITH DECO today on his hurdle debut.
Alastair Ralph’s charge ran a blinder on his rules debut in bumper at Southwell as he didn’t look to be enjoying the tight turns of Southwell until he met the long straight where he really found top gear and stayed on to grab second.
The galloping nature of Exeter should really suit him and although the ground is a slight unknown I’d like to think he will be able to go through it.
EDE’IFFS ELTON broke my heart on Boxing Day as he got done in the shadows of the post when looking the most likely winner for the majority of the race.
The handicapper didn’t miss him as he bumped him up 5lbs for finishing 2nd but as harsh as that seems I think he will still be able to go close today.
The ground should hold no fears and as long as James Best can keep him covered up I think he will go close.
