Race Favourites Ahead of the 2021 Chasemore Farm Fortune Stakes

September 15 sees the Chasemore Farm Fortune Stakes take place at . This is run over a mile and is a Class 1 Listed race. The winner will receive £29,489 and those taking part have to be aged three years and over. Good ground is forecast for this intriguing race that is due off at 3.30.

Recent years have seen the Fortune Stakes dominated by trainer Richard Hannon. He’s had the winner in three of the last four years and the last two. 2020 saw this race won by Posted at the rather impressive of 16/1. The four-year-old ended a run of five years in which this race had been won by a horse aged three years old.

Strongly fancied in this race is five-year-old Sir Busker who is trained by William Knight. You have to go back to 2009 for the last time a horse aged five won this race. If winning the Fortune Stakes, Sir Busker will be the oldest winner since Penitent won in 2013, aged seven.

This runner is the top rated racingahead.net entrant. He’s dropping down in class as last time out Sir Busker was fourth in a Group 2 race run at on August 21. That was over seven furlongs and Sir Busker was running on well at the finish.

Before the York race, this contender was second at in a Group 3 contest run over a mile. A repeat of his third behind Palace Pier in the at in June would see Sir Busker go close in this race. The last win for this runner was in the Hunt Cup at Royal Ascot last September.

Roger Charlton runs Ummalnar who is a six-year-old. It’s 14 years since a horse of that age won this race. This is a runner that likes to get the lead in its races. Ummalnar hasn’t had a run since January of this year and was fifth on the all-weather at Newcastle.

At that time, this runner (based on current odds) was trained by William Haggas, and it was said that Ummalnar didn’t enjoy being taken on for the lead. British online specialists at UK sport betting aggregator are keen to see how the move to the Roger Charlton stable goes and receives 5lbs from Sir Busker.

Mostahdaf is only three years of age but has only lost one of four races. Trained by John and Thady Gosden, Mostahdaf won a Listed race on this course in May over this distance but on soft ground. That led to a crack at the Group 1 St James’s Palace Stakes at Royal Ascot in June but could only finish 12th of 13.

It’s probably best to ignore that run as Mostahdaf was badly hampered on the rail two furlongs out and never recovered from that. This runner receives 2lbs from Sir Busker and after a good break, can run a good race here.

Qasar is the entrant that Richard Hannon hopes will give him another winner in this race. In May, Qasar won a Listed race at ran over seven furlongs on heavy ground. The six-year-old has 9st 7lbs to carry and the Daily Mail feels this runner only has each-way claims.
