THE fastest race run at Ayr Racecourse takes place today (Tuesday) when the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Land O’Burns Fillies’ Stakes, Listed Race is run over the minimum trip of five furlongs.
The top rated in the contest is John Quinn’s Keep Busy who will be attempting to emulate the success of her mother Look Busy who won the race in 2008 and in doing so set a course record of 55.68 seconds which stands to this day.
Keep Busy ran a creditable fifth in the Group 1 King‘s Stand Stakes at Royal Ascot a week ago and if bringing that form to the table will be hard to beat with Jason Hart taking the ride.
Of the other nine horses in the race one that looks very interesting is the Irish raider Dickiedooda, trained by the legendary Jessie Harrington and the mount of Cam Hardie.
She was runner up in a similar contest at Cork two weeks ago and as a three year old she is receiving six pounds in weight allowance from her older rivals.
The main supporting race on the card is the Book Now For Ladies Night Handicap Stakes over seven furlongs for three year-olds which has a small but select field of four runners lining up.
These are headed by the Mark Johnston trained, Ben Curtis ridden Bravado who has won three of his nine starts but may find the ground a bit on the quick side for his liking.
That shouldn’t be a problem for Whittle Le Woods who has only raced five times but is in good hands being trained by Michael Dods with Paul Mulrennan set to take the mount.
The consistent Greengage goes for a hat trick of course wins this season in the concluding six furlong handicap for Tristan Davidson and Jason Hart.
