In the two-mile conditional jockeys’ handicap hurdle which opened the Cheltenham October meeting I thought One True King was absolutely thrown in. Nigel Twiston-Davies clearly thought plenty of him as he ran him in the Champion Bumper last season and when I saw him at Ludlow when he won his bumper, he looked a real standout. His free-going style coupled with his slick, accurate jumping technique made him a really attractive betting proposition in this race and I placed a £30 eachway wager at 7/1.
