National Hunt Flat races have some killer stats to help beat the bookmaker on both sides of the Irish Sea
NNATIONAL Hunt Flat races – or bumpers – are strange beasts. There are no jumps but they are jumps races of a sort. The weights carried and jockeys on board reflect their status as ‘training races’ for horses that will soon go over hurdles.
The name bumper comes from their origin when the races were for inexperienced jockeys. Those young riders would be more likely to bump up and down in the saddle.
