Teaforthree begins National Campaign

Amateur pilot Jamie Codd is looking forward to his first ride on Grand National hope Teaforthree at Warwick on Thursday.

Rebecca Curtis‘ staying chaser is making his seasonal reappearance having unseated Nick Schofield at the famous ‘Chair’ in the big race at Aintree on his last run in April, when he was sent off 10/1 joint-favourite. He had previously finished an impressive third behind Auroras Encore in the 2013 National.

Having won valuable prizes in the past such as the National Hunt Chase at the Cheltenham Festival and also having had a crack at the Cheltenham Gold Cup last campaign, Teaforthree will now likely be targeted again at the world’s most famous steeplechase.

The son-of-Oscar faces seven rivals in Warwick’s Willoughby De Broke Open Hunters’ Chase for amateur riders, with Codd taking the reins for the first time. Three of the 11-year-old’s four career victories have been under champion jockey Tony McCoy but Codd is hoping to establish a successful partnership with his new mount.
