UK Racing Form Figures Can Pinpoint Races Worth Following

The final mile and a half handicap at Wolves back on 11 October didn’t seem like a particularly interesting affair at the time, but the figures produced by the first 5 home suggested the race had the potential to work out really well, and this has been the case so far. This is another example how the UK Racing Form figures can pinpoint a race worth following.

The 4^th horse in that race, Ian Williams BALLYFARSOON, is of particular interest. He ran a figure of 60 behind Star Anise, and this was on the back of a figure of 62 the run before in a race which has produced 10 winners. He has run since Wolves, but was tried over the inadequate trip of 9f and was outpaced the whole way round. This makes his current mark of 48 look very workable, and I fully recommend following him over the winter. The 5^th home, STILLA AFTON, is also worth following.

We mentioned AUTUMN’S BLUSH in last month’s column, and much to our delight she won at 5/1 with a lot in hand on 18 October. I expect she can go in again given that she achieved a rating of 81 at Wolves (on the back of figures of 84 and 83) and she should still be ahead of the handicapper.

Free Eagle came undone in the soft ground in the Champion at Ascot. He certainly wasn’t disgraced, and we fully expect him to come back with a bang in 2015.

Finally, I leave you with a word on the 2015 2000 Guineas. TOSCANINI is currently trading at 50/1, and he’s our first addition to the antepost portfolio. He’s run some really nice figures and wasn’t beaten far by Dick Whittington or Gleneagles. Any fancy prices on the exchanges over the winter may be worth taking.
