Simcock hails special win

Trainer David Simcock has hailed Bless Him following an incredible run to win in the Britannia Stakes at Royal .

The three-year-old was among strong competition on but he performed well to claim just a second career victory.

Bless Him, ridden by Jamie Spencer, took up a position on the far side of the track and was happy to sit just off the back of the early pacemakers.

The Simcock-trained charge eventually pushed on with about a furlong to go and held on despite a late surge from Ronald R, who had to settle for second.

Simcock admitted it was a special victory for the youngster and was delighted to see all the hard work come to fruition on such a big stage.

“It's very special having a winner here. It's what all the hard work at home is for,” he said.

“He's quickened up really well and Jamie will say he's got there too soon, but he's actually taken Ronald R's gap.

“He's a talented horse and that's enough. He isn't straightforward on the racecourse, but he's very talented and at home, he's great.”
