Festival trio set for Punchestown showdown

Penhill, Champagne and Presenting Percy are all set to clash in 's Irish Daily Mirror Novice Hurdle at .

The trio all secured victories at last month's with the Willie -trained Penhill claiming glory in the Albert Bartlett Novices' Hurdle.

The six-year-old has now won six of his eight starts over hurdles and Mullins believes the Bay Gelding has thrived since making the step up in distance.

“I think three miles is a help to him,” said the Closutton handler. “He was a stayer on the Flat and is clearly the same over hurdles.”

Champagne Classic won the Martin Pipe Conditional Jockeys' Hurdle at Prestbury Park and trainer Gordon believes the horse deserves an opportunity to make the step up in grade.

He told At The Races: “He's too high in the handicap now and I'm not sure he'll be up to Grade One class, but we'll give him his chance and if he runs well I'll be happy with that.”

Patrick Kelly's Presenting Percy will also make the step up in grade following his victory in the Pertemps Final at and he will be looking to improve on his last visit to Punchestown, when he finished fourth in the Pertemps Network Group Handicap Hurdle.
